Terraria-Inspired ‘Tinkerlands’ Washes Ashore into Early Access

Conquer the islands alone or with friends.

If you enjoy cozy pixel survival games, publisher HypeTrain Digital, along with developers CodeManu and Endless Coffee, has just released Tinkerlands, which takes players on a journey throughout a vast archipelago of islands.

The game built momentum long before this release. Its initial prologue earned ninety percent positive reviews and attracted about one thousand players playing at the same time each day during its debut. During Steam Next Fest in October of last year, the updated demo attracted over four thousand concurrent players and climbed to a ninety-three percent approval rating. These early successes hinted at a strong community eager to shape the journey ahead.

In Tinkerlands, you arrive as a shipwreck survivor cast onto a strange island. You have to gather wood, stone and food to stay alive, then build a settlement, craft tools and weapons to face creatures that roam around the islands. Throughout the adventure, you need to piece together clues that reveal why these islands hide so many secrets.

The islands themselves are procedurally generated and change with each playthrough. You might find overgrown forests, jagged cliffs, and glowing caverns that pulse with magic. Sailing between at least twenty unique biomes brings fresh challenges. You might dive underwater to explore sunken ruins or venture into dungeon halls where a fearsome boss awaits. Throughout the journey, you’ll meet friendly locals and motley crew members who offer small tasks in exchange for various rewards.

Whether you prefer to play solo or team up with friends, Tinkerlands supports both options. The game’s online co-op mode allows up to four players to work together. Teamwork becomes especially important when larger bosses emerge or when you’re building a big village. Many players have noted that the game carries the familiar charm of Terraria, while comparisons to fan favorites like Necesse, Core Keeper, and Forager are also common.

With its pixel art style, varied biomes and open play, Tinkerlands feels like a warm invitation to explore and experiment. Early Access may be just the beginning, but the solid launch shows that both the community and developers share one goal: to make this survival adventure as welcoming and full of wonder as the islands themselves.

You can get Tinkerlands on Steam for only $10 until June 6, 2025.
