Hinterland Studio dropped the latest chapter in the Tales from the Far Territory DLC for their cold hard survival game The Long Dark. The latest Part 4 introduces the largest area to date, including new tools and equipment. Along with the paid content, they also released a free update that added some new features, which hardcore survivalists will surely enjoy.
The Langston Mine is an abandoned site that has become a polluted wasteland. It can be accessed by road from the transfer pass. This area is now known as the zone of contamination. If you plan to visit, be aware of the Toxic Hazards and Poisoned Wolves that inhabit the area.

There’s a new episode to the story called Buried Echoes that continues from the previous chapter called Signal Void. This time, you need to follow the clues you found to uncover the mystery of Rüdiger, the Security Chief, and some strange events that were hinted at in the last story.
The game also has two new items, called the Travois and the Respirator. The Travois is a tool that you can use to carry lots of stuff over long distances. The Respirator is a piece of gear that protects you from toxic gas that you will encounter while exploring the underground.
The game also has some new protective clothing, including a coat, pants, boots, and a hard hat. Each piece of clothing provides different levels of protection against physical damage, wind, and moisture.
Be careful of the yellow snow 😬

While the bulk of the gameplay centers around the DLC, players who do not own it also got a few new features.
The new insulated flasks are available in different colors and patterns, perfect for carrying hot drinks like soups, coffee, and tea with you on your next hike through snowy forests.
You will now be able to get scurvy from eating foods that are low in vitamin C, which adds a new level of challenge to the game. This will only affect new save files, as the developers did not want people who harvested and ate all the good food to be stuck with scurvy for the rest of their lives.
New animations have been added for harvesting carcasses, and require the correct tool for the job, as harvesting newly killed animals with bare hands is no longer an option.
How are you like the new DLC?
