Hinterland Studios Inc., the independent developer who first released The Long Dark in 2017 and has continued to update the game with fresh paid and free content, has recently revealed more details about their next major update.
Despite the Tales From the Far Territories DLC’s rocky start, the development team is letting us know that Part Three of its six part update series is almost ready for release and is anticipated to go live at the end of June.
They have shared with us some of the novel things we might come across while attempting to survive as we wait for the launch to take place.

The new Frontier Cooking System, which will be introducing seven new ingredients to the game and some new recipes that you can use to prepare more sophisticated cuisines that utilize multiple ingredients, will come first. These recipes include some mouthwatering finger-licking dinners like rabbit stew, fish pie, and so forth.
In addition, the Frontier Cooking system will debut with 15 recipes, including 9 exclusive ones that can only be found elsewhere in the world. They have completely redesigned the cooking interface and are also introducing a skillet that will open up additional cooking options.
The ptarmigan, a medium-sized game bird, has also been announced as a new species of animal that you may come across. They can be found in most regions, but you are more likely to locate them in more isolated, higher altitudes. In addition to using these birds for their flesh, you can also gather their extremely soft down, which you can use in a few new crafting techniques.

Since they introduced us to a new species of wildlife, they also provided us with a new species of flora in the form of the Burdock, a very adaptable plant that resembles Dandelions punk rock cousin. To get at its stubborn roots, you’ll need a tool, but once you do, you can eat it raw, add it to a recipe for extra calories, or even prepare a scrumptious cup of tea to wind down the day.
Additionally, three new revolver types, a new bow, and a flashlight are among the new item variants that are being added. They claim that each of these new variations will look different from their standard counterparts and feature a few different stats.
They have also revealed that they have entirely redesigned the fishing system for the basic game’s Survival update, adding a few new species of scaled buddies, and provided you with new tools for catching fish and maintaining your fishing equipment. The players’ wishes have been taken into consideration, and greater flexibility is now available near areas where you can fish. Since the addition of the fishing system last year, this is the first significant revamp.
Finally, all of the newly added items will be usable in previous Tales games that have been saved. To maintain a fair game balance, the placement of the new food items has also been looked at.
