Nordic Trolls, a small indie development team out of Beijing, is currently working on probably one of the most beautiful-looking procedurally generated survival games, Under a Rock. The developers have recently shared new information about base building mechanics and what creatures we’ll find in the game.
Base building will come in two different modes: traditional building, where you will be able to build and place down items as you have the necessary resources, and ghost building, where you can layout the entire build of your base and allow others to deliver resources to the base, and it will be built up over time. And one of the cool aspects of ghost building is that even if your base gets destroyed, your plans are still there to allow you to rebuild the whole thing without having to rethink its design.

There will be very few limitations on where you can build your base, as you can build it on land, in the trees, inside caves, and even underwater. But be careful where you build, because even though you can build in that area, the natives and wildlife may not be too keen on your design spot and try to tear it down. They are even working on a way to share your building designs with others, so if you share your blueprint, they can build it in their own world as well.
The wild and crazy wildlife of the game is one of the aspects that makes it so adorable, and here are some of the friendly creatures you will meet in the game.
Dodos, yes, the mythical thought to be extinct dumb birds of the past, will be brought back to life in this game. Though adorable, you will quite frequently see these creatures running around scared, looking for bushes to hind in, out of sight, out of mind, as the saying goes.
Fluffypuffs are large, adorable bunny-like creatures that, when spooked by a predator or a rising storm, will burrow and hide underground. It can be a good time watching them pop up from their hidey holes once the predators or storms abate.

And finally, the Snuggets, a cute sabertoothed-hamster hybrid who can often be found gathering in groups under a tree canopy or sheltering in a cave, often having to fend off creatures who have already made the cave home, they may be small, but their teeth are sharp.
The game is built using all the bells and whistles of Unreal Engine 5. Under a Rock is currently slated to be released on Steam and the Epic Games Store upon launch.
