Bellwright, one of the newest settlement builders set to release in the first quarter of 2024, is gearing up to possibly be one of the best medieval survival games out there, where you must recruit villagers to build an army to overthrow the tyrannical king of Carvania.
To build your own kingdom, you must first learn to recruit villagers. In Bellwright, there is a unique currency called renown, which is used to convince the residents of local towns to join you.
You can earn renown by constructing buildings, defeating enemies, and even doing quests. Each villager will require a different amount of renown, so scout about the different towns and see which villagers you might be able to persuade to join you.

Each villager is unique and will have different professions and attributes. The profession of a villager can be found just beneath their name; speak with them, and you can learn what attributes they have, such as which weapons they are proficient with, farming, harvesting, and more.
Once you have recruited a villager, they can assist you with gathering resources, crafting, and even constructing buildings within your settlement. You will also have the ability to open your settlement menu, where you can check out your current population and assign your villagers different job priorities. But you must also monitor their morale, as it can be affected by things such as not having a place in your encampment to sleep.

The developers of Bellwright have revealed new details on recruiting villagers and determining their role and efficiency based on their profession and special attributes.#bellwright #citybuilding @BellwrightGame pic.twitter.com/cOBGBK3QKF
The menu will also allow you to assign your citizens different professions, such as being workers, soldiers, and guards. Each of your villagers also comes with their own inventories, which you can use to equip them with different weapons and armor, so make sure to see what they are proficient with to maximize their effectiveness.
With the squad selected, you will be able to command them to move and attack in different locations, bringing both third-person personal combat to the game and the tactical element of squad combat as well.
I am excited to see this game develop and can’t wait to create my own village in Bellwright. How about you? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below.
