It’s been a big year for survival gamers back in the 2024 with many exciting survival titles such as Palworld, Enshrouded, and Abiotic Factor. This year, we have more new releases on the horizon. Here are eight survival and building game demos worth playing during Steam Next Fest 2025, which runs from February 24 to March 3, 2025.
Chernobylite 2: Exclusion Zone
The highly anticipated sequel to Chernobylite is just around the corner! The developers planned to release the game later, but due to the success of their Kickstarter campaign and plans to add features such as a first-person camera, they decided to release the game earlier into Early Access and launched a new demo.
Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days
If you’ve enjoyed This War of Mine and are looking for a familiar feel but with zombies, Into the Dead takes to the post-apocalyptic Texas where you have to scavenge for resources, band a group of survivors and escape the city overrun by the infected. The new playtest features more characters, items and improvements.

The Alters
The Alters is a story-driven survival game where you take on the role of Jan Dolski, a lone survivor who crash-landed on a dangerous planet. He soon discovers that the only way to survive and find answers to his most pressing life questions is by creating alternative versions of himself.
RoadCraft
While RoadCraft is not a survival game, it’s definitely one of the most anticipated building games of 2025, where you run a construction company and rebuild the world devastated by natural disasters. The game also supports co-op, which is not something you often see in these type of games.
Road to Vostok
Road to Vostok is currently the most promising Stalker-inspired survival game coming from a solo dev. The developer has been working relentlessly and has introduced a lot of improvements and new features, such as base customization.

Sand
If treasure hunting, machine building, and PvP battles sound like a tempting mix, Sand has launched a new technical test. The developers have made optimization improvements and added more polish in preparation for launching the game into Early Access this year.
Night is Coming
After years of development, the Slavic mythology-inspired Night is Coming has finally released its demo, which offers a first glimpse at city building and exploration of one biome.
Survival Machine
The new demo for Survival Machine has been released with some exciting additions. It not only removes the time limit on how long you can play the demo, but also adds the multiplayer support, which was missing in the previous demo version, along with some new content and improvements.
With all these games and more coming up, 2025 aims to be another exciting year for survival gamers. If you try any of these demos, let me know which of the games you liked the most in the comments below.
